Maize

Maize is the main crop of the season and takes up most of the area in production.

It is sown with the first rains and harvested in the dry season, once the grain reaches ripeness and can be cleaned and stored properly. Most of the harvest goes to mills that process maize, the rest to local buyers.

The seed is taken once the capsules begin to open, which means watching the field closely through the final weeks of the crop.
